High Country Radio News began an interview series today (Sept. 28) with Dr. Alycia Brown to bring attention to September: National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Dr. Brown operates Dogwood Psychiatry & Mental Health Services in Boone, where she’s a board-certified adult and child psychiatrist. During the interview, Dr. Brown shared the percentage of individuals, including her clients, who admit or have thought about suicide or harming themselves. Dr. Brown went on to talk about warning signs that friends and loved ones should look for when it comes to someone thinking about suicide. Such as – have they withdrawn and/or are they terribly depressed and off their usual routine.
Our interview with Dr. Brown continues during additional newscasts this week.
