This week is National Fire Protection Week, a time when our local fire departments and leaders remind the public of some simple but effective measures that could save lives. The Boone Fire Department as well as the Watauga County Fire Marshal’s Office have joined together to promote this year’s fire prevention week theme, Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower. Safe charging means making smart decisions. For instance, use the proper cord and charger that goes with your device, be it a cell phone, computer, or tablet. Also remember to not only update the batteries in your smoke alarm but test it on a monthly basis as well.
